Stephanie and I were born and raised in Oklahoma. Stephanie graduated from the University of Oklahoma with an education degree and I joined the army. We have six children between us...four boys and two girls. We made Newalla our home so that our children could grow up in the country and we could raise our dogs.
I was in the Military serving our Great Country, when in 1997 I decided that it was time to move on into civilian life. I took a job in Korea working on Military Aircraft and this is where our dream was born.
We made the decision to get a Golden Retriever. In all we had four of them, just to have one Survive.
The First three Died of Parvo and Distemper regardless of our efforts with the vet to save them.
We learned the hard way that they do not vaccinate their Puppies in Korea.
We are Both Dog Lovers and this experience really changed our lives. We realized that not everyone values animals the way we do...and for those that do they should not have to go through what we did.
In 2001 we returned to the U.S. and decided that after all of our Heartbreak we could do a better job raising beautiful dogs...Sooner Kennels was created.
That's how it all started!
